'You Just Don't Understand' :
Parenting Across Scotland (PAS) has produced a DVD of a drama written
and performed by the young people of Drumchapel High school which
illustrates the issues that concern them as teenagers and the
difficulties parents can have when they try to talk with their teenage
offspring. Click here to view a clip of the DVD.
Parents concerns mirror the concerns of young people, the pupils decided
to write a drama about teenage life and parental concerns for a parents'
information event at the school. The drama was so well received that it
was subsequently performed at the PAS 'Real Stories' event at the
Scottish Parliament.
The film covers three themes:
Bullying
Body image
Underage sex, sexually transmitted infections and alcohol
The film includes quotes from parents who have rang ParentLine Scotland
looking for help and advice, and statistics about young peoples'
attitudes and behaviour supplied by the Schools Health Education Unit.
The film has been produced by Parenting Across Scotland for distribution
to schools, parenting and family support services, and youth and
community groups.
PAS would like to thank the young people who took the time and trouble
to write and perform the drama and Drumchapel High School for supporting
the project.
There is no charge for the film
