Parenting Across Scotland (PAS) aims to support parents and families. Here are some of the ways we do this:
Represent the views of parents and families through:
- Scotland wide surveys
- Videos of parents and young people talking about their own experiences
- Surveys through PAS partner agencies
- Organising events where parents and families can voice their worries, concerns and tell their own stories
- Telling parents and families 'real stories' to wide audiences
Promoting the need for services for ALL parents:
- Exploring new ways fro parents and families to get information, support and advice they need
- Running the 'Ok to Ask' gateway telephone helpline service where one number can provide access to a whole range of different information services
- Producing information for all parents via schools, health visitors, partner services and our website
In 2006, PAS, with the support of the Scottish Executive, piloted 5 Parent Information Points (PIPs) sessions in Scotland.
What are PIPs?
PIPs are an easy, open way for parents to get information and advice, through sessions offered at schools and nurseries, bringing together lots of agencies who can offer help and support.
What do PIPs cover?
They focussed on the three key stages in children and young people's lives which are known to be worrying times for parents
Nursery to primary
Primary to secondary
The teenage years
